Uno de mis múltiples propósitos desde hace doscientos mil años es tener mi espacio de trabajo bonito y chulo como los que me la paso viendo en Pinterest, de hecho, hasta tengo un tablero especialmente de estas oficinas en casa tan hermosas.
Hace aproximadamente un año y medio (si no es que dos) he estado remodelando poco a poco mi espacio de trabajo. No les quiero hacer el cuento muy largo asà que básicamente ha pasado esto:

Tengo un poco más de cuatro años de vivir con mi pareja. Vivimos en una casa de un piso la cual no es súper grande, pero es bastante cómoda. Además de lo habitual (sala, comedor, cocina, baños y patio) tiene 3 recámaras.
One of my multiple and constant New Year's Resolution since like, a thousand years, is to have my own cool home-workspace as the ones I spend hours seeing on Pinterest. In fact, I even have a special board of these freaking gorgeous home-offices.
I have been gradually remodeling my workspace for about one and a half years (maybe two). I don't want to make this a super long story, so basically, this happened:
I've been living with my boyfriend for about four years. We live in a one-story house which is not super big, but it's pretty comfortable. In addition to the usual (lounge, dining room, kitchen, bathrooms, and patio) the house has 3 rooms.
En un principio las recamaras las acomodamos una para nosotros, una para mi hija y una de huéspedes. Esto se los cuento para hacer referencia que mi espacio de trabajo lo tenÃa que tener en nuestro cuarto, lo cual el espacio sólo nos permitÃa un cachito para cada uno.Hace aproximadamente un año y medio decidimos quitar el cuarto de visitas y hacer un 'cuarto de juegos' (tranquilos, no me refiero a los cuartos de juegos al estilo 50 sombras) que básicamente serÃa el cuarto en el cual pudiéramos poner nuestras computadoras, tv y consolas para pasar el rato en familia.
The master bedroom is for us, and the two other rooms were arranged one for my daughter and the other one as a guest room. I'm telling you this to make reference that my workspace had to be in our room, which space only allowed one little piece for each of us.
About a year and a half ago we decided to remove the guest room and make a playroom that would basically be the room where we could put our computers, TVs, and consoles to hang out.
Al hacer este cambio de cuarto obviamente me súper emocioné por que la mitad de ese cuarto serÃa mÃo y podrÃa por fin tener lo más parecido a mi home-office de sueños. Desde entonces comencé a ahorrar y a comprarme mis cositas de poco a poco para lograr mi cometido.
Como anteriormente me tocaba un espacio chiquito, me habÃa comprado un escritorio pequeño, asà que al hacer el cambio lo primero que estaba en mi lista era un escritorio. Como buena mexicana, en lo que ahorraba para el escritorio me las arreglé con mesas de esas de plástico que se doblan para irle dando forma a todo el asunto.
Making this change obviously got me overexcited because half of that room would be mine and I could finally have the closest thing to my dreamed home-office. Since then I started saving and buying little things to achieve my goal.
As I told you, since I had a small space in the Master Bedroom, I had bought myself a small desk. So when we change to the playroom the first expensive thing to buy on my list was a desk. As a good Mexican, I managed to get by some of those plastic tables that fold up to give shape to the whole thing meanwhile I saved for the desk.
Después de como 1 año por fin pude comprarme un escritorio que me gustó bastante. Tardé mucho porque tenÃa que ahorrar (ya que sabÃa que no iba a ser muy barato) además que aún no me decidÃa que estilo de escritorio querÃa. No les voy a mentir, el escritorio que compré no era exactamente el que yo querÃa, pero si era mi segunda opción, ya que el primero se salÃa de mi presupuesto.
Lamento no poderles poner toda la historia con fotos, pues como les comenté en mi entrada de regreso, perdà los archivos de mi computadora y, con ellos, muchas de las fotos que tenÃa de mi progreso. Solo pude rescatar unas cuantas.
Ya comprado el escritorio, comencé a ahorrar nuevamente y planear que es lo que querÃa para seguir arreglando mi espacio. Hasta hace poco menos de un mes pude ahorrar lo suficiente y decidà dar el siguiente paso.
After about a year I was finally able to buy a desk that I really liked. It took me a long time because I had to save (because I knew it wasn't going to be very cheap) and I still didn't decide what desktop style I wanted. I'm not going to lie, the desk I bought wasn't exactly the one I wanted, but it was my second choice since the first one was out of my budget.
I'm sorry I can't put the whole story with photos, because as I told you on my come back post, I lost most of my files on my computer and, with them, many of the photos I had of my progress. I was only able to rescue a few.
Once I bought the desk, I started saving again and planning what I wanted to do to keep decorating my workspace. Until a little less than a month ago I was able to save enough money and decided to take the next step.
Para esto tenÃa un poco de problemas, ya que en mi lado del cuarto se encontraba la TV y las consolas (que realmente poco usábamos y las terminábamos moviendo a la sala). Asà que, hablando con mi novio, le propuse si quitábamos la TV ya que realmente nunca la usamos (por ende, quitarÃamos también lo demás). Después de mucho discutirlo por fin llegamos a un acuerdo y la quitamos.
Lo primero que hicimos fue quitar la TV y una repisa que tenÃamos debajo de ella. Como habÃa huecos de pintura y hoyos en la pared tuve que resanar y pintar lo que no estaba pintado. El cuarto era un desorden.
I had a bit of a problem because on my side of the room was the TV and consoles (which we didn't really use much and ended up moving them to the living room anyway). So, talking to my boyfriend, I suggested to take off the TV because we never really use it (so we'd take out the rest too). After a little discussion, we finally reached an agreement and removed it.
The first thing we did was remove the TV and a shelf underneath it. As there were some parts of the wall that weren't painted and some holes, I had to make some reparations and paint that spots. The room was a mess.
En lo que terminaba de secar la pintura decidà hacerle un makeover a unas cajoneras de plástico que tenÃa. ¿Les habÃa comentado que últimamente siento un amor enfermo hacia el dorado? Pues pensé que como todo era de colores muy claro, le podÃa dar un toque de color pintándolas de color dorado. La verdad este makeover no tiene mucha ciencia, solo las rocié con pintura en spray y voilá.
Meanwhile the paint was drying, I decided to do a makeover of some plastic drawers I had. Have I told you that lately, I've been feeling a freaking love for gold? Well, I thought that since everything was very light-colored, I could give my space a touch of color by painting them in gold. The truth is this makeover doesn't have much science, I just paint-sprayed them and voila.
Volviendo al cuarto, pensé que la mejor manera de aprovechar todo ese espacio era con repisas, asà que me puse a hacer mi plan de como querÃa que se viera todo y nos fuimos a comprar el material que necesitábamos. Ya con todo listo ¡nos pusimos manos a la obra!
Mi novio me ayudó a taladrar la pared y ya yo me pude encargar de lo demás. En total solo me compré 4 repisas, dos pequeñas y dos medianas. Ya con las repisas y medio acomodando se podÃa ver asÃ.
Back to the room, I thought the best way to take advantage of all that space was with shelves, so I started making my plan of how I wanted everything to look and we went to buy the material we needed. Now we were all set to go!
My boyfriend helped me drill the wall and I was able to take care of the rest. In total, I only bought four shelves, two small and two medium sized. Once the shelves were already on the wall and arranging some of my stuff the room started to look like this.
El dÃa siguiente me tocó acomodar y de paso hacer revisión de lo que realmente me servÃa y usaba para no tener cosas de más y poder tener un espacio más limpio para trabajar.
Y ¡voilá! ya acomodando un 80% de mis cosas por fin quedé satisfecha del resultado.
The next day I had to get all my things in place so I decided to do a check-up of what I really need and use in order to have a cleaner space to work in.
And voila! Already accommodating like 80% of my things I was finally satisfied with the result.
Sé que no es un lugar como los que veo en Pinterest como tal, pero en realidad estoy muy contenta. Con solo 4 repisas siento que se ve mucho más limpio y ordenado, además de a poco voy quitando cajas y cosas que tengo en el suelo. No me canso de decir que en verdad me encantó como quedo, y eso que solo arreglé una de las paredes.
Les dejo algunas fotos por que en verdad me emocioné de lo tanto que cambió mi espacio. I feel so proud of myself.
I know it's not a place like the ones I see on Pinterest, but I'm actually very happy. With only 4 shelves I feel that it looks much neater, in addition to slowly removing boxes and things that I have on the floor. I can't get enough of saying that I really loved the way it looks, counting that I only fixed one side of the space.
I leave you some more photos because I am really happy with how much my space has changed. I feel so proud of myself.
Ahora sÃ, me toca ahorrar de nuevo para poder arreglar la otra pared, la ventana y poco a poco tener mi espacio completo y a mi gusto. Espero también poder iluminarlo de una mejor manera ya que lo único malo de este cuarto es que entra cero sol, siempre esta oscuro.
Anyways, no inventen, tenÃa como un mes sin subir entrada. Lo peor de todo es que no es porque no tenga nada sobre que escribir, si no que ¡ya no aguanto que nunca puedo tomar fotos! Que horror, espero pronto poder solucionar esto.
Now I have to start saving again to be able to fix the other wall, the window and gradually have my workspace complete. I also hope to be able to illuminate the room in a better way, since the only bad thing about this room is that it's so damn dark.
